PROJECT HOMEWORKS

Project HomeWorks is Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s local volunteer programme where we work with vulnerable groups to rehabilitate their homes into a safe and sanitary state. Started in 2006, this programme is driven by Habitat's belief that no human being should be living in an unhygienic or undignified environment.
Individuals we support through this programme are usually faced with little financial resources, social support and/or mobility issues. This already makes it difficult to care for themselves, let alone their homes.

UNLITTER RED DOT

UnLitter Red Dot was created to nurture a culture and society that is more civic-minded and considerate. It is a family-and-children friendly volunteering programme that focuses on residential estates, especially rental flat neighbourhoods that need more help. Despite having fines in place, our community spaces like void decks, playgrounds and carparks still seem to be littered with tissue paper, cigarette stubs and plastic bottles. We desire to see a country that takes ownership of its surroundings beyond the immediate home.
By volunteering in UnLitter, we seek to start new conversations with volunteers about what it means to care for one’s living space beyond the four corners of our homes. We want to groom a generation of compassionate citizens to step out and be the champions for change.

ABOUT Us
We are Project Hiraeth, a Youth For Causes (YFC) project initiated by a group of students from Victoria Junior College, and partnered with Habitat for Humanity Singapore.
'Hiraeth' — the longing for home which you cannot return to or never existed.
For many of Habitat's beneficiaries, despite having a roof over their heads, they are often living under inadequate conditions. These groups that Habitat for Humanity Singapore reaches out to, such as the elderly, are those who lack the resources to maintain the condition of their homes.
We hope to reach out to the beneficiaries, to make them feel at home, to be the ones to remind them that no matter the circumstances, they are never forgotten.
